Although kayaking along the shoreline can be a fun and relaxing way to explore the coasts of Costa Rica, for a little more adventure, you can tackle one of the many rivers the country as to offer. Keep in mind that from rainy to dry season, the water levels can fluctuate quite a bit, so ask how fast the river is moving so you don't end up over your head.
Penas Blancas, Reventazon, Sarapiqui and Savegre are Class II and Class III rivers for beginner to intermediate kayakers. Chirripo is considered the hardest and fasted river in Costa Rica and kayakers from around the world visit the area to take it on.
